A handheld DCSBD plasma source for quick tests.
The RPS40 is a handheld DCSBD atmospheric-plasma generator (40 W, 50 × 20 mm plasma area) for laboratory testing and small-area surface activation in ambient air — the fastest way to evaluate DCSBD on your material before scaling to industrial RPS400 configurations.
Since the electrode system and the power source must be cooled down, the RPS40 is not capable of fully continuous operation. The maximal operation time is limited to 45 s. After 45 s, the automatic cooling procedure takes place, and the system is ready to be used again in 200 s. However, shorter treatment times require shorter cooling periods, and therefore, if you are using RPS40 only for quick tests, you probably will not recognize that RPS40 is being cooled at all.
For continuous industrial operation on flat substrates, see RPS400 (~20 × 8 cm plasma area, 24/7 operation). For roll-to-roll treatment of flexible films (PET, PEN, PP, PE), see RPS400 for roll-to-roll (curved electrodes, up to 100 m/min). For laboratory work with unlimited operation time, see RPS40+ (integrated PLC-compatible unit) or the larger-area RPS250+ (~90 × 85 mm, no oil-based cooling). ROPLASS supports scale-up from RPS40 laboratory results to production configurations, including 5-unit arrays for 1 m treatment widths and 25-unit large-area systems.
